Schools and After Schools Program

The desire for greater involvement in the wider community has led to IMCC becoming an Australian Sports Commission (ASC) accredited provider of cricket coaching services. Participating in the ASC's Active After Schools Communities Program since 2011, IMCC coaches have provided 15 seven-week programs to Before and After School Centres in Afords Point, Menai, Bangor, Illawong, Wattle Grove, Holsworthy and Woronora River. This has also increased the reputation and visibility of the club within the community.

The program is fully funded by ASC and this has allowed the club to engage and train a number of former and current junior players as Community Coaches, at no cost to the club. The after schools centres also receive funding which allows us to pay the junior coaches for their services, again at no cost to the club. The program provides primary school children with exposure to cricket through enjoyable games and fun activities. This is expected to result in some of the kids taking up cricket, once they get old enough to play in the Master Blaster or Junior teams. The greater visibility of the club should lead to increased membership and thus help in securing the club's future.
